Chapters

Chapters at the Huntington Society of Canada (HSC) are comprised of local families and volunteers who provide each other with a forum of support. This includes regular meetings, peer workshops, educational materials, and community activities on an ongoing basis in partnership with HSC. Together, Chapters and professional staff promote understanding, foster resilience, identify and increase coping skills, as well as provide peer kinships with others facing similar experiences.

These events bring local Huntington families together to build community, social networks, furnish emotional support and create a sense of pride. Such events might include an outing for caregivers, a barbecue for local families, or an educational workshop provided by the HSC Social Worker in the local area.

The objective of the Chapter is to provide support, education, as well as to provide qualified professional support to address such issues as genetic testing, latest research, and address the concerns regarding telling children (who have a 50% chance of inheriting HD) through education workshops.
