MARCH 24 – FAMILY SERVICES WEBINAR

Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) and HD: The Importance of Early and Ongoing Support

Date: Tuesday, March 24
Time: 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. ET
Speaker: Jasmine Cload, speech language pathologist
Topic: Changes in communication and swallowing can be prominent symptoms for people living with Huntington disease (HD). Speech language pathologists (SLPs) play an important role in assessing and managing these changes.

This webinar will introduce the role of the SLP and why early involvement and ongoing monitoring can be beneficial for individuals with HD and their care partners to support quality of life, independence, and participation in daily activities.

*This webinar will be recorded. If you wish to access the recording, please register, even if you cannot attend.

MARCH 30 – RESEARCH WEBINAR

Spotlight on Research: Dr. Thyago Cardim-Pires

Date: Monday, March 30
Time: 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. ET
Speaker: Thyago R. Cardim-Pires, PharmDPostdoctoral fellow, Centre de Recherche du CHU de Québec (Neuroscience axis), Université Laval
Topic: This presentation from Dr. Thyago Cardim-Pires will look at new research showing that the huntingtin protein may form harmful clumps in more parts than scientists previously thought. While most HD research has focused on one small section of the protein, this work suggests other regions may also be involved. By studying cells, mice, and donated human brain tissue, Dr. Cardim-Pires is expanding our understanding of how HD develops and is identifying new areas that could one day be explored for treatment.

*This webinar will be recorded. If you wish to access the recording, please register, even if you cannot attend.
