We are thrilled to announce a complete sell-out of the 2016 Amaryllis Campaign. Over 20,000 amaryllis bulbs are or will soon be growing and inspiring hope across Canada. The goal of the campaign was to raise over $115,000 to fund services for families affected by Huntington disease and to support HD research.
Reaching this goal is the result of many dedicated volunteers across Canada. A sincere thank you to each and every one of you who continue to make a positive difference and pave the way to a world free of HD.
The 2016 campaign was a great success by all means. This year, we introduced a brand new box which was developed with the valuable feedback we received from you, our best sellers. The kit also included an insert with amaryllis growing tips from our long time growers – Larry, Brenda and Bev. We received a tremendous response for the early bird draw, with Brenda from Ottawa winning a Fit Bit as the prize. Sales of the amaryllis started in early October, grew steadily and exceeded our goal – thanks to you!
Here are some quick facts about this year’s campaign:
- Total number of kits sold – 20,052
- Increase in new orders – 30%
- Increase in individual orders from 2015 – 20%
It’s now time for the annual Amaryllis Photo Festival! Photos of your blooming amaryllis (on its own or accompanied with your smiling faces or furry friends) can be posted to social media with the hashtag #HSCAmaryllis or sent to amaryllis@huntingtonsociety.ca. The winner will get to have their photographic masterpiece star on the HSC website as part of our 2017 Amaryllis Campaign.
