Family Funds

Partners for the Future
Creating a Family Fund has a two-fold benefit: it creates a lasting legacy with the Huntington Society of Canada (HSC), while providing financial stability for HSC’s mission to enrich the quality of life of those dealing with Huntington disease. 

When you establish a Family Fund with HSC, you become a member of our Family of Fundholders.  Your Family Fund helps provide HSC with a guarantee of support for crucial research, education and care services – now and for the future.

How Do I Establish a Family Fund?
A minimum contribution of $1,000 is required to establish and maintain a Family Fund. Funds can be pledged annually and directed immediately to HSC operations and programs like research, education and care to help families right away.

If specified beforehand, your contributions can accumulate in a lasting endowment set aside for the long term: Once the endowment reaches $10,000, at your discretion the income goes to HSC programs to help people and the principal is preserved in perpetuity and continues to grow with further contributions. This option helps to sustain HSC programs and allows us to plan ahead for the long term to serve families.

HSC staff are available to assist you consider your options about the type of fund suited to your needs, its purpose, the appropriate name and type of recognition, as well as the annual commitment and disbursement.

How Does a Family Fund or an Endowment Family Fund Work?
The name of your Family Fund is an enduring tribute to a beloved family member or an admired individual.

Anyone can contribute cash, stocks, securities or shares to your Family Fund at any time. Family Funds provides your family, company or friends an opportunity to honour your family by contributing to your fund on any occasion, such as Christmas, birthdays, weddings and anniversaries.

All donations to your fund will be receipted for income tax purposes.

The Huntington Society of Canada is extremely appreciative of those who support our organization and recognizing your contribution is critical in allowing us to say thank you. All donors who gift a cumulative total of $1,000 in a fiscal year (July 1st – June 30th) are recognized in our annual report. We will also recognize you through our website.
