Our Media Releations Program
• National Office is here to help boost media attention for your chapter, area or event. If you contact us in advance, we can even write media releases and send them for you. We'd also be happy to help you develop a local media relations plan so you can be more proactive about getting coverage.
• Becoming an HSC Spokesperson
• Media always like to put a human face on their stories. Let us know if you are willing to be interviewed about HD. (Before any story is written, we will contact you; your name will NEVER be given to any media person without your consent.) We can also coach you so that you're comfortable before your interview.
• HSC's Guidelines on Paid Advertising
• The Huntington Society of Canada follows strict guidelines on advertising that don't allow us to pay for exposure. When National Office launches our yearly national PSA campaign, we only solicit free advertising.
• The main reason for this is that if we pay to advertise in some media outlets, other media outlets are much less likely to continue donating free ad space to us. In fact, we would probably lose most the free advertising we currently receive each year - worth more than $100,000.
• It would also be difficult to choose where to advertise, because our budget is not big enough to pay for ads in all the media outlets across Canada.
