A Brief History
In 1973, Ralph Walker and his wife Ariel decided to create an organization that would give families living with HD the support, information and hope they needed.
Under Ralph's leadership, the Huntington Society of Canada became an internationally recognized and respected organization, breaking down the isolation surrounding Huntington's and creating a supportive, motivated community.
The Society is now in every province, with approximately 30 volunteer chapters, area representatives, and other groups across the country, and a team of professionals delivering strong programs in family services, education and research.
The Huntington Society of Canada was also a founding member of the International Huntington Association (IHA), which now has 40 members around the world.
Today we continue to put Ralph's vision into action, providing support for families with Huntington's today, and funding research that will develop a cure for Huntington's in the near future.
